Ajman: Gulf Medical University (GMU), Ajman, celebrated the graduation of 630 students at its Convocation 2025 ceremony, held at Thumbay Grounds in Thumbay Medicity.
The event took place in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Ajman Executive Council, who joined families, faculty members, and healthcare leaders in honouring the university’s newest cohort of healthcare professionals.
Graduates from medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, physiotherapy, healthcare management, and various health sciences received their degrees during the ceremony. The event began with a GMU ‘At a Glance’ presentation, followed by the formal awarding of degrees and the administration of the Graduate Oath.
Presiding over the convocation, Dr. Thumbay Moideen, Founder President of Thumbay Group, congratulated the graduates and highlighted the rapid growth of GMU’s academic and clinical ecosystem.
He noted that Thumbay Medicity’s integrated network of teaching hospitals, research facilities, and simulation centres continues to strengthen the university’s ability to train globally competitive professionals.

Prof. Manda Venkatramana, Chancellor of GMU, commended the graduates for their resilience and dedication. He also expressed gratitude to parents, faculty, and clinical preceptors for shaping a new generation of healthcare leaders.
During the ceremony, GMU awarded Honorary Doctorates to H.E. Mirza Al Sayegh and Mr. Feroz Allana for their distinguished contributions to society. The university also conferred four Honorary Professorships on leading figures in medicine and healthcare- Dr. Samih Tarabichi, Dr. Abdulla Al Khayat, Dr. Abdulrahim Mustafawi, and Dr. Humaid Al Shamsi, recognising their efforts in advancing clinical excellence, academic medicine, and healthcare innovation.
GMU emphasised the importance of experiential learning, with students continuing their practical training across the Thumbay Academic Health System. This includes Thumbay University Hospital, Thumbay Dental Hospital, Thumbay Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Hospital, long-term care centres, and multiple clinical teaching environments that serve diverse patient populations.
As GMU graduates embark on careers in leading hospitals, research institutions, and healthcare organisations around the world, the Convocation 2025 ceremony underscored the university’s commitment to preparing future-ready professionals and reinforcing the global healthcare workforce. The event concluded with remarks from the Student Council President, followed by the formal dissolution of the convocation.
