Zurich/New York: FIFA has announced that ticket sales for the highly anticipated 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be hosted jointly by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, will officially begin on September 10, 2025.
The global football body has called on fans eager to attend the world’s most-watched sporting event to pre-register their interest through its official website.
The announcement came just a day after the conclusion of the FIFA Club World Cup held in the US. With momentum building, preparations for the first-ever 48-team World Cup have intensified, promising what FIFA President Gianni Infantino described as the biggest and greatest sporting event ever. “We’re looking forward to welcoming the world back to North America,” Infantino said in a statement.
Pre-registered fans will gain early access to apply for tickets during the first phase of sales on September 10. The organization revealed that ticket sales will be divided into several distinct phases, continuing until the final match on July 19, 2026.

“Each phase may differ in purchasing processes, payment methods, and ticket products,” FIFA said, adding that detailed guidelines for each stage will be announced progressively over the coming months.
The 2026 World Cup will mark a new chapter in the tournament’s history, with 48 teams competing in 104 matches across three countries. Canada and Mexico will host 13 matches each, while the United States will stage the majority, including the grand finale at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on July 19. The opening match will kick off on June 11, 2026, in Mexico City, setting the stage for a month-long celebration of global football.
The 2026 edition follows the successful Qatar 2022 World Cup, where Argentina lifted the trophy for the third time, with Messi cementing his legacy in the sport. As anticipation builds, the 2026 tournament promises not only historic scale but also unprecedented global participation and fan engagement.
