Zurich: FIFA has unveiled the official match ball for the 2026 World Cup– Trionda –crafted by Adidas to symbolise the unity and spirit of the three host nations: the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The name Trionda combines two Spanish words. Tria, meaning three, and onda, meaning wave or vibe, reflecting the joint hosting of the tournament across three countries for the first time in World Cup history.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino said the new design represents the shared enthusiasm and energy of the hosts, adding that Adidas has once again delivered a ball that embodies the essence of world football.
The Trionda features a striking combination of red, green, and blue graphics, colours that honour the host countries. Each design element includes national symbols such as the American star, the Canadian maple leaf, and the Mexican eagle. Gold detailing has been added as a tribute to the iconic FIFA World Cup trophy.

The ball departs from the traditional black-and-white design, featuring a new four-panel construction with deep seams and debossed lines for enhanced stability and precision. These innovations help ensure improved flight accuracy and control, even at high speeds.
At its core, Trionda incorporates Adidas’ latest Connected Ball technology. A 500Hz Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) sensor embedded within one of the panels transmits precise data to assist the VAR system. This allows officials to make more accurate offside and handball decisions during matches.
The Trionda will make its debut in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. The 2026 FIFA World Cup, scheduled from June 11 to July 19, will be historic, the first to be co-hosted by three countries and to feature 48 teams competing for football’s most prestigious trophy.
