US: Google has launched Flow, a groundbreaking AI-powered filmmaking tool designed to simplify and enhance cinematic storytelling through generative video technology.

Flow is built on Veo 3, Google’s most advanced video model to date, capable of integrating native audio including sound effects, environmental ambiance, and character dialogue into high-quality video clips. With Flow, storytellers can produce cinematic sequences using nothing more than plain text prompts.

The tool transforms everyday language into compelling visuals, thanks to the intuitive prompting capabilities of Google’s Gemini AI models. Creators can use their assets or leverage Imagen’s text-to-image capabilities to generate characters and settings. Once created, these elements can be consistently reused across multiple clips or evolved into new scenes through a seamless visual narrative.

“Once you’ve created a subject or a scene, you can integrate those same ingredients into different clips and scenes with consistency,” Google explained in a blog post.

Flow allows control over camera angles, motion, and perspective, giving creators full cinematic flexibility. It also supports scene extension and editing, enabling continuous storytelling with fluid transitions and consistent character design.

Flow’s robust asset management system allows users to organize and reuse visual ingredients and prompts easily, improving workflow efficiency for creators.

Additionally, Flow TV, a newly launched companion platform, features user-generated clips and showcases real prompt-to-video examples, offering practical learning opportunities.

An evolution of last year’s experimental VideoFX, Flow is currently available to users of the Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra plans in the US. The Pro plan offers core features and 100 video generations per month, while the Ultra plan provides higher limits and early access to Veo 3’s audio capabilities.

By partnering with renowned filmmakers like Dave Clark, Henry Daubrez, and Junie Lau, Google has refined Flow based on real-world creative feedback.
