Chamoli/Uttarakhand: In a welcome development for nature lovers and trekkers, Uttarakhand’s iconic Valley of Flowers is set to reopen for tourists from June 1.
Nestled within the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve, this UNESCO World Heritage site draws thousands of visitors from around the globe each year, who come to witness its breathtaking display of alpine flora and serene natural beauty.
With the official reopening date set, the Nanda Devi National Park administration has begun extensive preparations to ensure safe and smooth access to the valley.
A team of officials recently completed a comprehensive survey of the roads and glaciers along the route, paving the way for urgent repair and clearance operations.

Forest officials confirmed that laborers have already been deployed to repair damaged trekking paths and remove snow accumulations beyond the Dhunsa Nullah, a stretch located just a kilometer from the valley’s entrance near Govind Dham. Several other key trekking trails leading to the site are also under restoration.
“Some snow and ice blocks are still present near glacial points beyond Dwari Pul, but our teams are working to cut through these obstacles and create safe, trek-worthy paths for visitors,” officials said.
The Valley of Flowers is not only a visual spectacle but also a significant contributor to the state’s eco-tourism revenue.
With the path repairs progressing swiftly, authorities are optimistic that all arrangements will be in place for a hassle-free and memorable tourist experience when the valley opens next month.
