Singapore (January 23, 2025): India and Singapore are celebrating 60 years of diplomatic relations with the Indian Film Festival 2025, organized by the Indian High Commission in Singapore in collaboration with the Singapore Film Society.
The festival will run from January 24 to March 2 at Golden Village Cinema in Suntec City, a prominent shopping and recreational complex in Singapore’s Central Business District. It will showcase 18 films from various genres and languages, all subtitled in English to cater to a wider audience.
High Commissioner Dr. Shilpak Ambule highlighted the significance of this cultural exchange, noting that the event celebrates the shared history and strong bilateral ties between the two nations. “A mixed range of movies have been selected, from timeless classics by legendary Bengali filmmaker Satyajit Ray to acclaimed contemporary works. Efforts will be made to make this an annual affair,” said Dr. Ambule.
The Indian Film Festival 2025 (IFF 2025) is being organized on a non-commercial basis, with support from India’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the National Film Development Corporation. It aims to promote Indian culture and diversity through cinema.
The festival will screen three movies every weekend and feature films in seven different Indian languages, offering a glimpse into India’s rich cinematic heritage.
This event is the first in a series of celebrations planned by the High Commission to commemorate the 60-year milestone in India-Singapore diplomatic relations.
For film enthusiasts, this is an opportunity to enjoy a mix of iconic classics and regional language hits, highlighting the diversity of Indian cinema.
