Hyderabad: Miss Thailand Opal Suchata Chuangsri was crowned Miss World 2025 at the grand finale of the 72nd Miss World pageant held at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad on Saturday evening.
The 22-year-old from Phuket triumphed over 107 contestants from across the globe to win the coveted title. Suchata will receive a cash prize of Rs 8.5 crore as part of her victory.
The crown was passed on by Miss World 2024 Krystyna Pyszkova in a glittering ceremony that marked a historic moment for Telangana, which hosted the global event for the first time. This was the third time India hosted the Miss World pageant, having previously done so in 1996 and 2024.
Ethiopia’s Hasset Dereje was declared the first runner-up, followed by Poland’s Maja Klajda as the second runner-up, and Martinique’s Aurélie Joachim in third place.

Miss World judge and ambassador Sudha Reddy praised the Thai winner, stating that, “She was clear, confident, and had an inspiring presence. Beauty pageants are not just about looks, they celebrate personality, intellect, and purpose.”
India’s Nandini Gupta, who had made it to the Top 40 by winning the ‘Miss World Top Model’ title on May 24, exited the competition after failing to enter the Top 8.
The month-long Miss World Festival brought global attention to Hyderabad, turning the city into a cultural hub that blended tradition and modernity. With the Charminar as its historical backdrop and HITEX as the modern venue, Telangana showcased its hospitality and readiness to host international events of this scale.
The finale capped a vibrant celebration of beauty with purpose, reaffirming the Miss World platform’s commitment to empowering women and promoting global goodwill.
