Samsung’s President and CEO of Southwest Asia, JB Park, outlined Samsung’s bold vision for artificial intelligence (AI) and its transformative role in redefining smartphones and the broader technology ecosystem. Speaking after the launch of the Galaxy S25 series, Park detailed the company’s focus on AI, its commitment to India, and plans for global leadership in innovation.
Indian Market Growth
Park celebrated record-breaking sales of the Galaxy S24 series in India, attributing the success to a young, tech-savvy population eager to embrace advanced technologies. Features like Circle to Search and Call Assist have been widely adopted by Indian users, reflecting the nation’s appetite for personalized AI experiences.
The Galaxy S25 series, described by Park as a “true AI companion,” builds on this momentum. Developed with significant contributions from Samsung’s R&D center in Bengaluru, the series highlights India’s importance as both a market and an innovation hub. Additionally, the series will be manufactured at Samsung’s Noida plant, underscoring the company’s commitment to localization.
Premium Technology
Samsung’s strategy also includes expanding its reach into smaller towns and rural areas. The company plans to establish immersive experience stores to bridge the gap in accessibility and provide hands-on interactions with its products. Platforms like Samsung Finance Plus aim to make premium technology more affordable for underserved customers.
“Our strategy is to bring premium experiences to everyone, not just major cities but across rural India,” Park said, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity in the brand’s vision.
AI Monetization
Discussing the future of AI, Park highlighted a growing trend of monetizing advanced features, likening it to subscription-based models in the automotive industry. He sees this strategy extending to consumer electronics, smartphones, and even the growing electric vehicle (EV) market.
“AI is no longer just a smartphone feature; it’s the central hub of a connected ecosystem,” Park explained. From wearables to home appliances, Samsung is focused on creating seamless, integrated user experiences.
Facing Market Competition
Addressing competition from Apple in the premium segment and Chinese brands in the mid-range, Park expressed confidence in Samsung’s ability to differentiate itself through innovation. “Competition pushes us to stay ahead,” he said. “Our focus is on solving consumer problems and creating a technology ecosystem that simplifies daily life.”
The Road Ahead
Park likened AI’s potential to the early days of the internet, where its transformative impact was difficult to predict. He emphasized Samsung’s leadership in shaping this future with its Galaxy S25 series and beyond.
“AI will redefine what a smartphone means and will transform how we live, work, and connect with the world,” Park said, concluding with confidence in Samsung’s ability to lead India and the world into the next phase of technological evolution.
