Kochi: The Coloproctology International Conference (10th World Congress of Coloproctology) ‘Worldcon 2025’ officially commenced at the Kaloor Gokulam Convention Centre, with the inauguration led by Prof. Dr. M.C. Misra, former Director of AIIMS Delhi.
Dr. Misra highlighted that continuous training and educational initiatives for surgical professionals are vital for advancing patient care. The opening ceremony was presided over by Dr. R. Padmakumar, Patron of Worldcon, and the welcome address was delivered by Dr. Madhukar Pai, Organizing Chairman.
The four-day Coloproctology International Conference ‘Worldcon 2025’ has brought together a wide range of national and international colorectal surgery experts.
During the convocation ceremony, more than 700 surgeons were awarded the FISCP Fellowship in Coloproctology. The conference also featured real-time training sessions in advanced surgical techniques including laser, stapler, colonoscopy, and VAFT (Video-Assisted Anal Fistula Treatment). Over 250 specialists participated in these hands-on training programs.
Conference Manager Premna Subin confirmed that the event will run until April 6, offering a variety of scientific sessions and activities.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to coloproctology training, Dr. R. Padmakumar was presented with an Honorary Fellowship. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Resen Rajan.
