New Delhi: IndiGo has introduced a new budget-friendly fare option called ‘IndiGo Lite’, offering passengers a lower base fare if they are travelling with only cabin baggage.
The new fare is designed for travelers who prefer to pay only for the services they actually use rather than purchasing a bundled ticket that includes additional benefits.
Bookings under the IndiGo Lite category opened on July 1, 2026, while travel under the new fare will be available for flights departing on or after July 15, 2026.
A Simpler Fare for Light Travelers
According to the airline, IndiGo Lite is an entry-level Economy fare created specifically for passengers carrying only cabin luggage. Travelers choosing this option will be allowed to carry up to 7 kilograms of cabin baggage, with no checked baggage included in the fare.
The airline said the new offering is aimed at customers who want greater flexibility over their travel spending by selecting and paying only for the services they require.
Initially, the fare will be available exclusively through IndiGo’s direct booking platforms, including its official website, mobile application, and contact center.

Available Across Domestic and International Routes
The airline confirmed that the Lite fare can be booked on both domestic and international non-stop flights. It is available for one-way, round-trip, and multi-city itineraries, giving passengers the same booking flexibility as other fare categories.
IndiGo also clarified that the fare is available for both adult and child passengers, with no age-related restrictions. The launch comes shortly after India reduced aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices by around ₹5 per liter following a decline in global crude oil prices. However, the airline’s new fare structure is not linked to the government’s fuel price revision.
The reduction in global oil prices has been driven by easing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East after a fragile ceasefire between the United States and Iran, helping stabilize energy markets. Lower crude prices have contributed to a fall in ATF rates, which are expected to be around ₹110 per litre in Delhi.
The government also revised export duties on petrol, diesel, and aviation turbine fuel for the fortnight beginning July 1, while leaving domestic excise duties on petrol and diesel unchanged.
Expanding Choice for Passengers
With the introduction of IndiGo Lite, the airline is expanding its fare options to cater to different travel needs. The new category is expected to appeal to frequent flyers, short-trip travelers, and budget-conscious passengers who do not require checked baggage and prefer a lower upfront ticket price.
By separating essential travel from optional services, IndiGo is giving customers the freedom to customize their journey while potentially reducing the overall cost of flying.
