London: Linda Noskova captured her first Grand Slam title with a memorable victory at Wimbledon, defeating Czech Karolina Muchova 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 in the women’s singles final at the All England Club.
The 21-year-old delivered a composed performance to become the latest Czech champion at Wimbledon, following Marketa Vondrousova’s triumph in 2023 and Barbora Krejcikova’s title run in 2024. The victory will also lift Noskova to a career-best world No. 7 in the WTA rankings.
Noskova looked set for a straight-sets victory after dominating the opening set and moving 5-2 ahead in the second. She even held five championship points, but Muchova produced a remarkable fightback, winning five consecutive games to force a deciding set.

Despite the missed opportunity, Noskova quickly regained her focus. She controlled the final set with confident baseline play and held her nerve to seal the biggest victory of her career.
The Wimbledon triumph continues an outstanding run on grass for the young Czech, who also lifted the Berlin Open title earlier this season.

At 21, Noskova has become the youngest Wimbledon women’s champion since Petra Kvitova won the title at the same age in 2011. It also marks the first time since 2003 that players aged 21 or younger have won both the French Open and Wimbledon in the same season, following 19-year-old Mirra Andreeva’s Roland Garros victory earlier this year.
Along with the prestigious trophy, Noskova receives the winner’s prize of £3.6 million (around ₹46.09 crore). Runner-up Muchova takes home £1.85 million (approximately ₹23.7 crore) after an impressive campaign at the All England Club.
