New Delhi: The World Health Organization (WHO), the Centre for Global Development, and India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare have joined forces to enhance national and international healthcare collaborations.
Their joint effort, Health Technology Assessment (HTA 2025), aims to create a sustainable, accessible, and affordable healthcare system in India and beyond.
HTA 2025 was officially inaugurated today by India’s Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Jagat Prakash Nadda, at an international symposium themed “Bridging Evidence to Policy: Health Technology Assessment for Affordable Healthcare.”
Vinod K. Paul, Member (Health) of NITI Aayog, highlighted that HTA has established a vast network of scientists, public health officials, and academicians across India. He emphasized that “the scientific rigor applied in HTA’s analysis meets global standards while addressing India’s specific healthcare needs.”
Amit Agarwal, Secretary of India’s Department of Pharmaceuticals, stated that HTA will “promote innovation in the pharmaceutical sector and drive the development and adoption of affordable medical products.”
Minister Nadda reiterated the initiative’s role in supporting scientists, researchers, and institutions by ensuring that their groundbreaking work is safeguarded through patents and seamlessly transferred to the public.
HTA 2025 is expected to be a crucial step in integrating technology-driven solutions into healthcare policy, fostering innovation, and improving access to cost-effective medical treatments.
