New Delhi: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi became the youngest player to represent India’s senior men’s cricket team after making his debut in the second T20 International against the England cricket team on Sunday.

The left-handed batter made his international debut at the age of 15 years and 99 days, surpassing the previous record held by Sachin Tendulkar, who was 16 years and 205 days old when he made his debut for India in 1989.

Youngest Indian Debutant

With his appearance in the playing XI, Sooryavanshi became the youngest player to feature for India’s senior men’s team across all formats.

He also became India’s youngest T20 International debutant, overtaking Washington Sundar, who made his T20I debut at the age of 18 years and 80 days against the Sri Lanka national cricket team in 2017. Rishabh Pant made his T20I debut later that year at the age of 19 years and 120 days.

In addition, Sooryavanshi became the youngest batter to make an international debut for a Full Member nation. The previous record was held by Joshua Little of the Ireland cricket team, who debuted at the age of 16 years and 309 days.

Sooryavanshi earned his maiden India call-up after consistent performances in the 2026 Indian Premier League. Representing his franchise, he scored 776 runs in 16 innings at a strike rate of 237. He also hit 72 sixes, the highest by any batter in a single IPL season.

He continued his form during India’s tri-series in Sri Lanka. In the one-day final against Sri Lanka A in Dambulla, he scored 94 runs off 29 balls, strengthening his case for selection to the senior national team.

At 15 years and 99 days, Sooryavanshi has become India’s youngest men’s international cricketer, adding another milestone to a year in which he has progressed from domestic cricket to the senior national team.
